Ruki: burst into blaze (ver.2)

I wasn't too happy with the wig i styled in 2019 (also i just hate how i look in blonde). Wigs have never been my favorite part of cosplay. But i decided to give it another go. I spend more time researching haircutting videos that fit ruki's haircut which is like a mushroom cut, or that 90s boy haircut every celebrity had. It turned out even better this time. The cheap aliexpress wig for like $20 turned out better than the arda wig i bought in 2019.

Also without con crunch, i took my time. Metrocon was canceled that year due to covid. So, i wore this for a virtual halloween party my college writing club held.

wig comparison my makeup didnt improve much but the wig looks a shit ton better. it made such an improvement.

Miku: Crime & Punishment

Crime & Punishment (aka sin & Punishment) was one of my first vocaloid songs thanks to flipnote hatena. When i learned it was sung by miku, i went down the rabbit hole and never came back up. Which is why i decided to cosplay as this. I wanted to do more of a yami kawaii / menhera twist but i couldn't come up with a good design, so i stuck more to the mv's designs. honestly the design for cirme and punisment is already pretty menhera already.

i did make a design sketch but i dont have any scans or pics of it atm. i'd have to dig through my older sketchbooks to find it. probably eventually add it here.

Also this was taken by jose rosello, he asked if he could take a picture of my costume when i was walking the vendor hall. very nice of him. He's the second photographer (and well person) that's ever asked to take my picture while in cosplay!

I kinda want to rework this bc there's some design elements i didnt get to fully do the first time. I want to try making a yarn wig too, because i hate synethetic wigs tangling so much. I also don't really remember exactly how long i worked on this costume, so i'm just labeling it as july when metrocon in 2019 occured.

honestly this coat is my favorite part of this cosplay, i've actually worn it outside of cosplay a few times. The coat was thrifted for like $4. I altered it by adding sequins on the collar, and painted the design. i drew the design with tailor's chalk first to get an idea. How i made the farbic paint was acrylic paint mixed with delta ceramcoat textile meduim.
