Britain's short-lived Honeybus were one of the many post-psychedelic bands who got tangled up in Beatles comparisons, and while that's not really accurate, there's no denying that their 1970 debut Story was a rich, baroque pop delight, one of the lost classics of the era. More reminiscent of the Zombies' Odessey & Oracle and early Bee Gees, there are some proto-power-pop touches that align it with early Badfinger as well. The lead-off title track is a gorgeous, somber track full of heartfelt minor-key storytelling; but with a pretty stunning chorus that makes you wonder how this one fell through the cracks.
